Last year, I had an opportunity to eat delicious stuffed zucchini flowers, prepared by one of my favorite people in the world. For those of you who haven't had a chance to try zucchini flowers, they are quiet edible and also very beautiful. They taste like a mild, sort of flowery zucchini, which I guess shouldn't be that surprising. Anyway, I didn't want to steal the recipe, so here's a new recipe for another way to prepare them.

Chocolate-Dipped Zucchini Flowers

Ingredients:
30 Zucchini flowers, freshly-picked
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 bar paraffin

Sit in front of the zucchini plants as they grow, watching them with a sense of childlike awe. When they are about half an hour from their peak of perfection, melt chocolate chips and paraffin in a saucepan on low. Get a motorcycle and learn to ride it; you'll use less gasoline and you'll be able to ride through traffic. And you'll look cooler. Schedule a time within the next week to go running. Exercise is good for you. Take an auto mechanics class at a local community college, and then a cooking class too. Schedule a massage a few weeks in advance, so that you can budget for it and also have a sense of happy anticipation about it. Schedule that appointment you've been delaying with your chiropractor or dentist, too. Buy things less often, but enjoy them more when you do. Donate a big box of things you don't use -- it's just cluttering up your home anyway. Call up an old friend and make plans to see them. Cancel something from your schedule that you are doing more often than is good for you. Reread the latest research about how willpower is a limited reserve that can be exhausted, but can also be replenished and expanded. Don't expect yourself to have unlimited willpower and then blame yourself when you turn out to be human after all; instead, start planning your life so that making the right decisions requires less willpower and comes more naturally. Think about what you want to do with your career, and then think about what the first step is toward getting it. Go to a clothing swap and ditch the clothes you don't want; even if you don't find anything you like, it's fun to watch other people get excited about your stuff. Make a habit to clean up for five minutes a day without really thinking about it much. Develop an appreciation for the brilliant things you already do, and a similar admiration for the clever good deeds of your friends and family. Make more lists so that you don't forget your hopes and ambitions. Go out and feed some ducks; old bread is more fun for them than it is for you. Then, when you have done all of these things, pluck the flowers and dip them in the melted chocolate sauce. Place on a silver platter (which may be made of a non-silver substance if you like) and chill. Also, while you're chilling, leave the dipped flowers in the refrigerator, but don't fret about it too much. Right now is the time for you to chill.
